After Kendrick died I read many books on grief. However, I felt that they fell short of understanding the pain that I was really going through. Two years after Kendrick died and I had written many letters to him, I realized that my letters would tell a story of grief from a more personal perspective. I knew then that I needed to share my letters to Kendrick—it just took me thirteen more years to have the strength and courage to have them published.
